You\u2019ll <strong>get used to<\/strong> it, too!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Lie\u2014lay\u2014lain\/ lay\u2014laid\u2014laid<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday, after I <strong>laid<\/strong> the baby down for a nap, I <strong>lay<\/strong> down for a while to rest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes which verb we use depends on the direct object: Someone <strong>robs<\/strong> <em>me<\/em>, but he or she <strong>steals<\/strong> <em>my possessions<\/em>.\u00a0 Other times, the correct choice depends on whether there even is a direct object (so the verb is <em>transitive<\/em>) or not (in which case the verb is <em>intransitive<\/em>):<\/p>\n<p>Every day I <strong>lay<\/strong><em> the baby<\/em> down for a nap, then I usually <strong>lie<\/strong> down for a while.<\/p>\n<p>There are many more
