If you come to Cincinnati to study English at Cincilingua, you will be impressed by its picturesque beauty. The city is built on hills that remind some visitors of San Francisco, and the buildings are nestled among trees. One such area that stands out is Mount (Mt.) Adams, just east of downtown. In this unique neighborhood, the townhouses seem to cling to the hillsides. There are many restaurants and friendly taverns, and the views of the city and the surrounding area are fantastic. At night, the hill comes alive with people visiting the various entertainment venues. You can dine in a former ceramics studio, sit in the courtyard of a quaint, antique pub and listen to live music, and take in the breathtaking beauty of the region. As night descends, the lights of the city below come up, and downtown seems to glow. A stunning view is found in front of Holy Cross-Immaculata Church, which is perched on the summit of Mt. Adams. From there, you can see our beautiful downtown, the Ohio River, and the rolling hills of Northern Kentucky, dotted with smaller cities. Another great feature is that Mt. Adams adjoins Eden Park, which is full of natural beauty and is home to the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Krohn Conservatory, the home to wonderful displays of tropical plants.
One of my favorite activities is to show off this stunning area to visitors. I hope that, as a Cincilingua student, you will become one of them!
