Just as understanding “idioms” is important in business meetings, likewise, “sports expressions” need to be understood as well.
You may hear this said at a meeting during football season, “We must score a touchdown on this sales drive, a field goal isn’t enough”.
At the following meeting you may hear shouted out with enthusiasm, “We did it!” or you may hear said with disappointment, “We didn’t even get a first down“.
During the baseball season you may hear, “We need a grand slam, a single won’t do.”
Sports expressions are used everywhere, not just when speaking of sports.
